Implementation of screening programs and diagnosis of congenital diseases and disorders of child development. This direction has two important components: screening of pregnant women and children in the prenatal period and extended neonatal screening (up to 45 diseases).
Improvement of medical and psychoneurological support of newborns and infants with hereditary metabolic diseases and developmental disorders. 41 unified clinical protocols for diagnosis and medical support for 41 hereditary metabolic diseases (HMD) were created and approved at the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine. A diagnostic CHEK list and a route for a patient with SCOR have been developed, an information database has been created to calculate the limit levels of concentrations of marker compounds (cut-off) for the Ukrainian population in order to reduce the number of false-negative and false-positive determinations. A medical form has been developed and implemented for the collection of systematized clinical and laboratory data, which will be used by an interdisciplinary team of metabolomists when interpreting the results of follow-up examinations of newborns with suspected SCOR.
Creation and coordination of the work of the national system of catamnestic observation, analysis of the received data, formation of strategic directions of medical and other assistance to newborns and children born prematurely, with perinatal pathology, etc. up to 3 years of age. As part of the State University "IPAG named after Acad. OHM. Lukyanova National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine" opened a catamnestic observation center, which observes children from 0 to 3 years old and provides free services to children born prematurely and with special needs. The concept of creating such a center will contribute to the early detection of pathology, optimization of breastfeeding, training of parents with their involvement in the developmental care of the child, early initiation of rehabilitation measures, early intervention to prevent the formation of chronic pathology and disability.
Implementation of modern medical technologies of intensive care of newborns into practical activity: therapeutic hypothermia, NIRS monitoring for pathological conditions in newborns, a-EEG monitoring, non-invasive methods of surfactant administration - LISA, INSURE for RDS, respiratory support of newborns with respiratory disorders with high-flow cannulas, modern methods of diagnosis of hemodynamically significant open ductus arteriosus, etc.
